The dynamical Bogomolov conjecture for lines in the plane

ABSTRACT:

The Bogomolov conjecture -- proved by Ullmo and Zhang -- is a finiteness statement about points of small height in abelian varieties. Roughly speaking, it says that a subvariety of an abelian variety can only contain infinitely many torsion points if the subvariety is a torsion translate of an abelian subvariety. We will prove an analogous statement for lines in the plane under polynomial actions.
