L-functions of Galois representations arising from families
of exponential sums
ABSTRACT:
A family of exponential sums naturally produces a corresponding family of L-functions. Through the concept of relative cohomology, we may neatly package the entire family into one object. Relative cohomology produces a (geometric) Galois representation, which in turn, produces a new L-function. We will give an overview of this setup and discuss some basic open problems concerning this new L-function.
