Syllabus: Vectors and geometry of space. Vector functions.
Partial derivatives. Multiple integrals. Vector calculus.
Prerequisites: MTH 143, MTH 162, or MTH 172.

James Stewart, Calculus: Early Transcendentals (5th Edition),
Brooks Cole, 2003.
There will be NO MAKE-UP EXAMS. If you miss an exam you will receive a score of 0.
MIDTERM 1 is on 10/2, while MIDTERM 2 is on 11/6. Both exams are 8:00-9:30am tests and both are in GOERGEN 101.

To do well on exams you will need to know how to solve many different types
of problems. Webwork needs to be combined with the practice problems assigned each week
in order for you to be well prepared for the tests.
NO FORMULA CARDS/SHEETS ARE ALLOWED DURING THE EXAMS. CALCULATORS (all but the ones with communication abilities and kwerty keyboards) ARE ALLOWED ONLY FOR THE FIRST MIDTERM. NO CALCULATORS ARE ALLOWED TO THE SECOND MIDTERM!!
Webwork assignments are due Monday morning at 6:00am, one week after they were assigned. There will be 13 Webwork sets from which the best 10 will count towards your grade. Set 0 will not count. It is meant to familiarize you with Webwork.
Registration and attendance mandatory. The first recitations will be held in the week of September 10. You cannot sign up for them until Friday, 9/7, in the afternoon. However, you can sign up all weekend long. These sign-up sheets will be posted on the 1st floor of the Hylan Building, around noon on Friday, on the walls near the elevators/closet doors. Apart from the recitations, I also encourage you to take full advantage of the office hours of your instructor and of the Math Study Hall (Hylan 1103, Tu 9-12pm, 2-5pm, Th 9-12pm, 1-3pm, 4-5pm). It might be helpful also to form study groups.
