Short Bio

• Conceived, March 8, 1976.
• Born in Cluj, Romania, November 25, 1976.
• Lived under communism until 1989, and beyond.
• "Escaped" Romania in September 9, 1994 and moved to Somerset, NJ.
• Got first car in June 1995.
• Enrolled at Rutgers University in Fall 1995. Graduated with degrees in Math and French literature, May 1999.
• Enrolled in the Math PhD program at Cornell University, Fall 2000.
• Married Radu Gruian on April 21, 2001.
• Our petunia sprouted on January 20, 2004.
• Defended "Intersection exponents for random walks on cylinders" on June 28, 2006.
• Started as visiting assistant professor at University of Rochester, Fall 2006.
• We also got peanut on January 2, 2007.
