Chart Program Setup

This page is solely for my reference. Thanks to Bob Bruner for developing such a useful program and to Paul Pearson for helping me set it up.

  1. Set the maximum filtration: edit /A/MAXFILT. Set equal to 1.5 times the stem you would like to accurately calculate up to (the slope of the "stopping line" is -1).

  2. In the directory /A type in the prompt ./newmodule directory_name ./samples/module_definition_file.

  3. cd directory_name

  4. In the directory /A/directory_name type in the prompt ./dims 0 10 & . This will calculate stems 0 to 10. You can continue the program at any point if you still have the log and Diff files.

  5. ./report > summary

  6. ./display 0 file_name- will create the .ps files of the chart.

  7. gv file_name-1.ps for example will display the first page of the chart.

Use the same method under the directory /A(2) to calculate Ext groups over the subalgebra A(2).
