Things you need to do immediately
As of now (September 2, 2009) there are still a small number of
openings in each section of Math 162. If you want to take the course
you should
- Bring a drop/add form (available in Lattimore 312) to the next
meeting of the class and ask the instructor to sign it. Class meeting
times and places can be found on the course
home page.
- Email the instructor (addresses are on the course
home page) with your email address and ID number so he can create
a webwork account for you.
- After you have a webwork account, login to the webwork
page using your emailname/ID number as username/password. There
is a homework assignement due each Friday morning at 6am, and homework
will count for 20 percent of your grade.
- Consult the supplementary
homework page for additional homoework problems that will give you
extar practice at mastering the material.
- Go to the recitations
page and choose a time that is convenient for you. Go to the next
meeting of that recitation and tell the TA who you are. There will be
a quiz each week covering hoework that was due the previous week.
Your quiz scores will count for ten percent of your grade.
- Consult the course
outline page for more information about the course and a full
description of the grading policy.
- Look at the syllabus
page for information about reading assignments and exam dates. It
also has information about the textbook. You may use either the
5th or 6th edition of Stewart.
- Look at the extra
credit page for information about extra credit problems that can
improve your grade on thenext exam.
- Come to class, pay attention and work hard. Do not think for one
minute that if you aced calculus in high school, it will be easy to
get a good calculus grade at UR.
