UR 2011 Putnam Results
In December 2011, a total of 4440 students from 572 colleges in North America participated in the
72nd William Lowell Putnam Mathematical Competition.
The University of Rochester team, composed of senior Xiaoqing Tang, sophomore Vincent Yu, and freshman Douglas Miller,
continued its strong performance from the previous year and was ranked 15th out of 460 teams officially registered.
Moreover, Xiaoqing had an impressive individual score of 32 points that ranked 102nd overall.
Doug obtained 24 points, placing 194th, while Vincent, with 19 points, was ranked 349th.
Meritorious results were obtained also by seniors Kevin Lin (18 points) and Daniel Sieburth (19 points).
The Department congratulates all of the UR students who participated for the passion and hard work they brought to preparing for and taking part in the Putnam Competition.
